We had a fantastic Christmas party, playing musical bumps and statues, pass the parcel and pass the balloon. We even got to show off our best dance moves!
To celebrate the end of our Viking topic, we took a trip to York. First we visited DIG, where we took part in a battle tactics workshop and learnt all about Viking weapons. Then we became archaeologists and took part in our very own dig looking for atefacts from the past discussing what they could tell us. We then took a visit to the Jorvik Viking centre, where we travelled back in time and got to see what York looked like back in the 900's. Not even the -4 degree weather could stop us having a good time!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Thank you to all who created their own Christmas decoration that we are now proudly displaying in the classroom. It truly is our own winter wonderland.
Lots of you brought in some fantastic Viking projects, you can see the time and effort that went into each one. Well done!
It was a chilly one this week in forest school, to warm up we enjoyed hot chocolate and a candy cane by the fire. We also created christmas decorations using wool and sticks we found in the forest school. We practised our knots and weaving skills.
We were incredibly lucky to have a visitor in school today who specialised in wood carving. We got an opportunity to try it out and take part in a whole school project of creating a totem pole. It was lots of fun.
In our first forest school session, we recapped fire safety rules and showed great resilience when it came to using flint and steel, enjoyed bird watching, practised safe carrying and lifting during den building and went through how to care for chickens. It was a very busy day!
In DT, we followed a recipe for roman bread and compared two different ones.
In PE this week we practised bowling with an over arm throw.
In Science we investigated how we thought sound was made
