Lukaemia and Lymphoma research in memory of James Neal

James Neal Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport 2017

Today saw our annual award presentation in memory of James Neal who sadly lost his life to Leukaemia. It was a very difficult decision this year with so many talented sports people in Year 6. Third place went to Daniel Pooley, Second Place went to Beth Hall and we awarded the first place  to Luci Lamberti for her outstanding contribution to sports both in school and the wider community.

We are very proud of all three of them - well done!

James Neal Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport 2016

As always, today we awarded the James Neal trophy to one of our Year 6 pupils for their outstanding sportsmanship over the years.

In third place was Alfie Taylor

In second place was Daniel Longden

And this year's winner was Harry Robinson!

Well done boys!

James Neal Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport 2015

Today saw our annual award presentation in memory of James Neal who sadly lost his life to Leukaemia. It was a very difficult decision this year with so many talented sports people in Year 6. Third place went to Alfie Smith and this year we awarded the first place jointly to Alisha Ogg and Samuel Blackburn for their outstanding contribution to sports both in school and the wider community.

We are very proud of all three of them - well done!

Big Copper Count Up is Back!

We are once again on a mission to fill the Big Copper Count Up tower in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Last year we attempted to achieve a Mile of Pennies in the playground but fell just short. With the return of the Big Copper Count-Up we plan to give the challenge a second go and are determined to reach the full mile. We will be using the Mile of Pennies Challenge as an opportunity to create a learning project for our Year 6 pupils. They will be involved in planning the event by calculating how many coins will be needed to reach a mile in length and by working as a team to try and achieve it! All pennies will be greatly received. The tower will stay with us until the end of the summer term.

James Neal Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport 2014

This year we were delighted to welcome 2 of James' old friends in to school to present our annual award in memory of James who sadly lost his life to Leukaemia. Rob and Hannah recalled their memories of James during their time at our school, remembering vividly the fun they had during their Leavers' Assembly. It was a very emotional but fitting tribute.

The winner of the award this year went to Luke Cowling for his outstanding contribution to sports both in school and the wider community.

Joint second places went to Ellie Young for her fantastic dancing achievements and Samuel McKinley for his super football achievements.

Well done to all three of you!

The Big Copper Count Up!

The Big Copper Count-Up has now left Burton Primary School having raised an amazing £300.22! We were determined to fill the tower and in the end came just 8cm away from reaching the top! Whilst the tower was in the school, we held a mile of pennies event to help increase the amount of money raised.

On behalf of all the staff and pupils we would like to say a huge thank you to all those people who have donated their pennies towards our ‘Mile of Pennies’ attempt on Friday 13th December 2013 (our original date of 5th December was postponed due the high winds and subsequent flooding). Although we didn’t complete the mile, the pennies which you donated helped towards the grand total of £271.89 which we have now added to the Great Copper Count Up Tube in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.'

Once again we joined forces with Winterton Junior School and the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Trust to raise money in memory of James Neal who sadly passed away a few years ago. Both the semi finals and the final were fantastic events and very well supported by parents - so many thanks!

Our Semi-Finalists 2013!

We raised a grand total of £200.70! THANK YOU!

The Finalists - including competition winners 'Burton's Best'

Together we raised just over £1000!
