Happy Halloween!

Year 1 loved their afternoon of spooky fun! We made pumpkin lanterns, wrote our own witch and wizard spells, practised our fine motor skills by capturing the spiders and created our own carved pumpkin pictures.

In art, Year 1 have been studying the work of Henry Rousseau, in particular the art work named 'Surprised Tiger in a Tropical Storm'. We loved the colours and decided to have a go ourselves but with our own twist. The children learnt how to sketch and applied their skills to the tiger element. For the background, children created a collage using skills such as scrunching, tearing, cutting and overlapping.

What can you play?

The children in Year 1 have loved learning the song 'Hey you' as part of their music lessons. As they became more confident with the song, we introduced an instrumental element. As part of their final performance, they had to sing AND play! What superstars!

Paws, Claws and Whiskers - Forest School

What a way to start our new topic, in Forest School! During 'Transition Week', the children loved venturing into the Forest School to complete tasks linked to our new theme. They got to find different paw prints, make their own clay animals and look after our feathered friends.
