Progress up to Christmas
Well things are certainly moving at pace now! The roof is in the final stages of being complete and then the windows will be going in. The whole building should be water tight by mid January.
Access Arrangements throughout Construction 29.5.15
Following our consultation meeting with Galliford Try we are now able to issue the following regarding the gate situation as our New Build construction phase begins:
•Parent and pupil access to the school will be along the current footpath alongside the drive way. They will then turn Left into the playground.
•A temporary crowd barrier walkway will be installed around the playground and playing field to take the older children to their playground at the opposite side of the school.
•Parents and children attending the nursery are to turn right and use the temporary crossing point and follow the walkway to access the nursery as normal.
•There will be no access for parents to drive into the school.
Although the main gate will predominantly be locked, there will be periods of time that one leaf of both sets of double gates will be open to allow parents with buggies, pushchairs etc to walk up & down the access road, this period will be between 8.45am – 9.05am and 15.10pm – 15.45pm i.e.: during peak school drop off and pick up times. Please note these periods must be adhered to and anyone arriving late will need to use the pedestrian footpath. This also applies to Nursery children and parents outside these times. THERE WILL BE NODELIVERIES DURING THESE TIMES. Any deliveries that do arrive will be turned away or asked to return the holding area on the edge of Scunthorpe
Please note this will come into force as soon as we have a start date.
Many thanks for your continued support.
UPDATE FOLLOWING CONSULTATION MEETING 27.5.15
Following last night's consultation meeting held by Galliford Try, I am able to share with you the following information:
At last evenings consultation meeting we discussed the potential of keeping one side of the school gate open and one side of our proposed control gate open thus allowing pedestrians to access via the drive way during the peak times at the start and end of the school day but still ensuring a physical barrier is there to deter and prevent vehicles entering; we are in discussions with the school and nursery following agreement we will update our Traffic Management Plan to include this sequent of events.
The work towards building our new school is gathering pace, designs have been finalised and submitted for planning approval. The project, which is being funded by the Education Funding Agency, is due to begin construction in Summer 2015 with an estimated opening of Easter 2016.
We are really looking forward to working with the contractors GallifordTry, as well as our other stakeholders to ensure that Burton upon Stather has a school building which provides for the needs of our pupils well into the 21st Century.
The location of the new building means that any disruption to the daily life of the school will be kept to an absolute minimum during the construction period. We will remain in our current building throughout the entire new build process.
The build is part of the PSBP (Priority School Building Programme) which is funded by the EFA (Education Funding Agency).
A consultation evening was held on Friday 23rd January and planning permission was granted on 29th April. Thank you to all the people who took an interest in the application and helped support it.
A further drop in session will be held in the school hall on Wednesday 27th May from 5pm to 6pm. If anyone has any queries about the New Build Project and is unable to attend, please feel free to contact Steve Merrin from Galliford Try via email at Steve.Merrin@gallifordtry.co.uk.
