British Values - Evidence and Impact

At Burton upon Stather Primary School we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and embedded through both our curriculum and School Aims.

All curriculum provides a vehicle for furthering the understanding of these concepts and, in particular SMSC, RE and PSHE. This provides excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. Children embrace these concepts with enthusiasm and demonstrate a good understanding of their application to their own lives.

Our school makes considerable effort to ensure children have exposure to a wide experience both within and beyond their own local community - during which these concepts are shown through for example, sporting events, visits to the local church, events such as Young Voices and through weekly worshipful singing and religious assemblies. Equally through elaborating and embracing different cultures.

Their strong rooted value based understanding gives them an excellent platform for embracing difference.
